Three second artwork
12 Aug 2011
The Scottish Sculpture Workshop’s remote location has always been a defining feature of the organisation, offering artists a refuge from the hustle and bustle of big city life. A chance for peace, quiet and contemplation, with no distractions whilst you concentrate and use their unique facilities.
As remote as Lumsden may be, a majority of their drop in visitors come from the thoroughfare of the A97 that SSW sits upon. This major A road links a series of Aberdeenshire towns such as Banff, Huntly, Rhynie and Alford, and has a transportation flow coming to and from Aberdeen City.
This provides a unique opportunity for intervention along the side of SSW.
Facing this thoroughfare is a 20ft wall, on which SSW are looking for artists to create a temporary artwork that will be viewed by their passers by. A three second artwork which communicates with the through-traffic, local community and rural landscape.
To apply please send a cover letter, CV, proposal with timeline and 10 digital images to Emily Wyndham Gray at emily@ssw.org.uk.
