Sustainable Design Placements in Spain

The Programme

Orange and Green is a transnational programme for individuals wishing to develop their knowledge and understanding of sustainable design and the built environment from a wider European viewpoint.

Participants will undertake a 13 – week placement in a professional organisation in the Andalucian Region of Spain.

Aims of the programme:

  • To provide participants with an understanding of the impact the changing environment is having in southern Europe
  • To exchange information and ideas between built environment colleagues and policy makers from different cultures
  • To explore how the ‘arts’ within different cultures can inform and effect the development of public spaces and the wider public realm

Key Outputs:

  • Development of practical and technical skills in relation to energy efficiency
  • Development of professional, personal, intercultural and linguistic skills
  • Increased knowledge of how another European country deals with issues related to policy, sustainability and the arts in the built environment

Who can Apply?

The programme is open to applications from those working in the built environment, be they in the fields of architecture, urban design, planning, surveying, transport, civil engineering, arts or others working in associated fields.

There are 30 places available. The first 15 will be on placement from September – December 2011 and the remaining 15 will be on placement from January – March 2012.

Flights, accommodation and an allowance for food and travel will be provided.

How to Apply

Applications for Round 1 are now open. Candidates are asked to submit an application including a “Sustainability Proposal” promoting social responsibility and sustainability in society.

Deadline: Applications for Round 1 must be received by E-mail by 9am on Friday 22 July 2011.
