STREETLAND - Call for Proposals

30 Nov 2010

Streetland is an annual one day festival celebrating community and the street taking place on Saturday, the 30th of April, 2011, with openings on Friday 29th April. The festival will serve as a platform for a number of events, exhibitions, and performances with anchor
events centered on Westmoreland Street in Govanhill at The Chalet, The Govanhill Baths, South Side Studios, and Westmoreland Street Gardens. More information is available at
www.streetland.net.

Call for Proposals:

Streetland has a small but viable budget, due to Fairer Scotland Funding through the South East Arts Network, and is seeking proposals for both funded and non-funded events. These may include the fields of fine art, music, craft, education, history, cooking, community, botany, dance, games, or anything else that can bring people together. The programme is open to the use of both indoor and outdoor spaces centred on or near Westmoreland street as well as proposals that are not anchored in any single location.

Much of the success of last year’s festival was owing to the number of events that kept people on the street and moving. Applicants are encouraged to work with the Streetland team to negotiate access to space, electrical power, invigilation, etc. The Streetland team will also organise marketing, publicity and interpretation materials for successful applicants.
