Public Art Education Programme
26 Sep 2011
Aberdeen City Council are due to launch the Aberdeen Public Art Fund, along with a Public Art Toolkit and website. This new fund will be launching in late 2011.
As part of the fund Arts Development are running a free education programme for those community groups or organisations in the city who might wish to apply to the fund but feel that they perhaps require some training or support before doing so. The education programme, running one afternoon a week for 5 weeks, will utilise the new Aberdeen City Public Art Toolkit, taking participants through each stage of a public art project, as well as incorporating professional artists talks, site visits and practical exercises.
If you think your group, association or company might be interested in finding out more about public art, about the fund and about how to apply, as well as everything from initial project planning, to writing an artists’ brief, advertising and interviewing, to evaluating a finished project then the education programme could be for you!
The programme is open to individuals representing their group, association or organisation with an interest in developing and commissioning a new piece of permanent or temporary public art in the city.
This course is completely free. Places are limited to 12 so book your place soon by calling 01224 814740.
