Public Art Commission Opportunity

Clyde Gateway, in conjunction with its development partner Dawn Developments, wish to commission an experienced artist to deliver a distinctive and innovative artwork for the atrium space within the heart of Eastgate, a new four storey building that is to be built on the junction of London Road and Brook Street, in the east end of Glasgow. Eastgate will house the offices of Glasgow Community and Social Services.
The commissioned artist will have the opportunity to work closely with the Eastgate team to evolve an artwork, or series of artworks, that will be integrated within the four-storey atrium space. There is provision within the atrium for hanging work of significant weight should this be of interest.
The Commission
The Site: London Road, 300 meters East of the historic Bridgeton Cross and 600m West of the new National Indoor Sports Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
Budget: Overall commission is £40, 000 including Artist fee and materials.
Deadline: The closing date for expressions of interest is 12 noon on Friday 21st January 2011.
Submission: Artists should submit CV, up to 20 images of previous work on CD/DVD or Slide and an expression of interest -500 word max.
Selection: 4 artists will be shortlisted and given a fee of £800 to develop a detailed proposal for final presentation.
This commission will be managed by a steering group comprising Wave, led by Artist Peter McCaughey, with representatives from Clyde Gateway, Dawn Developments, Glasgow Community & Safety Services and key stakeholders.
