Feature Writer wanted to develop an article about public art in Seattle. PLUS: Creative Scotland???s new PAR+RS Professional Development investment; and our upcoming Planning season.
Upcoming Feature.
Following conversations at the recent Mapping the Future symposia, PAR+RS is seeking a Feature writer to develop an article about the history and legacies of public art commissioning in Seattle USA, with particular reference to the city???s percent for art ordinance.
We can pay a fee of £300 for the article, with a deadline of 1st December 2010 (open to negotiation).
This is a competitive application. Please contact Ruth Barker at producer@publicartscotland.com in the first instance, outlining your interest in this opportunity.
Planning Season
We are also looking for submissions for our upcoming Planning Season. From the largest masterplan to the smallest strategy, we’d love to hear about your experiences. We’re interested in projects that tie into political aims, or that have been affected by policy in any way – whether positive, negative, or peculiar.
To understand the place – and the future – of public art practice, we want to hear about architecture, landscaping, public realm initiatives, and civic design; as well as regeneration projects or urban renewal.
As always, email Ruth Barker with your articles in word format, and bear in mind that we love to have your images too! We accept articles from 500 – 1500 words, but you can also send us photo-essays (contact us if you have an idea for one) or let us know if you’d like to keep a Blog of an upcoming project. Contact Ruth at producer@publicartscotland.com with your articles, ideas, or questions.
The deadline to let us know that you’d like to submit an article on the theme of Planning is Monday 22nd November 2010. We’re sorry that we cannot pay a fee for submitted articles.

Ten Projects From The Last Ten Years
Last but not least, we had a Comment recently asking us to stop talking about Glasgow School of Art all the time! And suggesting a great idea for an upcoming Reflection piece. In the words of our contributor:
“Maybe some looser, more spontaneous content from projects on the ground around the country and some genuine critical reflection on say ???10 projects from the last 10 years selected by readers????”
So come on readers, send us your ideas for the projects we should be examining. I’ll take the first 10 different projects suggested by 10 different readers (remember the ‘last 10 years’ bit), and hopefully we’ll get a really good discussion going. Quick as you can please!
Send us your thoughts either through the Comments boards, or via email to the usual editorial address. Remember that you can always choose to remain anonymous if you wish.
Cheers,
R.
