Nominations now open for 2011 Margaret Tait Award
31 Jan 2011
The recipient of the award will be given a £10,000 prize and the opportunity to present their new commission at the Glasgow Film Festival 2012.
Launched last year, The Margaret Tait Award recognises artists who are experimental, innovative and who work within film and moving image. The aim of the award is to support artists and provide a high profile platform from which to exhibit their work and engage with a wider audience.
The award is inspired by the wealth of talent emerging from Scotland within this field and hopes to raise the profile of the many galleries, curators and arts organisations who support this area of work. It allows the Glasgow Film Festival to have a lasting and meaningful impact on the careers of new filmmaking talent, to support new commissions and forge new partnerships across the sector.
The winner of the inaugural 2010 Award was Torsten Lauschmann, who will premier his new work At the Heart of Everything a Row of Holes at 9pm, Thursday 24th February, at the GFT. This will be the only opportunity to see this unique site-specific commissioned work which is an interactive, satirical celebration of the conquest of technology.
Nominations are now sought from any individual please see, www.glasgowfilm.org/festival/glasgow_film_awards.
