New Innes Street Underpass
20 Oct 2011
The project’s main focus is to improve the general aesthetic of the underpass while engaging with the local community and users to produce a design which has longevity.
It is an important part of the project that the selected artist engages directly with the community, particularly the residents and young people using the underpass. The selected artist will be expected to hold workshops, and funding has been sourced for a street party at which it is hoped the artist will be able to actively involve the community in some aspect of the making process.
At this stage, the New Innes Street Residents Association is looking for expressions of interest from artists who have experience working within a community setting and who enjoy the challenge of working with a variety of people who have a mix of opinions! While you may not have worked in an underpass before, you will have a passion for small to medium scale public work, and will be able to demonstrate your ability to deliver on time and within budget.
There is a fee of £3000 available for this project, with a further £4000 for the underpass. Additional fundraising is currently taking place to increase the amount available for the materials and work in the underpass.
