Kettle's Yard Commissions
25 Aug 2011
Kettle’s Yard is embarking on an exciting period of development from September 2011, when they will be building a new education wing adjacent to the gallery on Castle Street. This extension is planned to open in January 2013.
They are launching a series of artists’ commissions to be undertaken during this period of development, and invite applications which address one or more of the thematic briefs outlined below.
They are looking for artists who will engage with Kettle’s Yard – the nature and history of the site and its collection, what happens here and the people involved – in a sensitive and intelligent manner. They are particularly interested in exploring new ways of working with artists across some or all their activities, including exhibitions, music, events and public programmes, as well as their online presence and digital platforms for engagement.
Proposals should include a letter of interest and outline of your approach to the commission, an up-to-date cv, supporting images, up to 2 showreels and or documents (no more than 10 sheets of paper and/or 2 publications). All proposals should include a summary budget and timescale.
A shortlist of artists will be selected from these submissions and these artists will be invited to attend an interview at Kettle’s Yard. A more detailed proposal may also be requested.
Budget £7000 per accepted proposal
