Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is seeking to commission an artwork or artworks for a permanent intervention, or series of interventions, on or near the coastal paths networks around John O’Groats.

HIE are open to ideas, which may include any number of concepts, however discussion has prioritised a series of works as interventions along the route; acting as way-markers, resting places or shelters.

The starting point will be the wealth of natural heritage, reflecting and respecting the stunning quality of place through the work. The work will be subtle interventions that complement the natural site and may use natural local materials.

The work is expected to be be permanent.

The deadline for applications is the 23rd January 2012.
