John O'Groats Art Tenders: photographer and film maker

In 2010 HIE commissioned the development of a Public Arts Strategy for John O’Groats. A range of temporary and permanent public art events and commissions have been developed that include:

  • The employment of a local Arts Co-ordinator
  • Key temporary commission – ‘Hotel’
  • First permanent commission -‘Path’
  • Transform’ artists’ temporary projects (weekend event, to coincide with ‘Hotel’ launch)
  • ‘Groatie Buckies’ – public engagement projects
  • Concept artist – to work with the design team to develop proposals (noncommission post)

Work will begin alongside the other first phase projects, which include the multi-million pound development of the John O’Groats House Hotel and creation of self catering luxury lodges.

Photographer
They seek a photographer to creatively document the range of activities and artworks as part of the art programme for John O’Groats, 2011. The images will be used by HIE for national and local press purposes, on their website and other documentation. It is important to show the people involved in an active and exciting way, as well capturing the quality of the artworks and events created. Further information is available in the Tender Information Pack.
The deadline for applications is 06 June 2011.

Film Maker
They seek a film-maker to creatively document the range of activities and artworks that are part of the art programme for John O’Groats, 2011. The key outcome will be a short HD digital film documenting and promoting the project – raising interest for future art works and the John O’Groats development in general. Clips will also be needed on an ongoing basis to be used by HIE for national and local media purposes, on their websites and other opportunities such as youtube etc . You will also have access to stills from a contracted photographer to include, if relevant. Further information is available in the Tender Information Pack.
