Hartley Pit Memorial Garden: Memorial pathway commission

15 Dec 2011

New Hartley Community Association and Blyth Valley Arts & Leisure wishes to commission a piece of public landscape architecture in the form of a rejuvenated pathway to re-image the memorial garden and to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Pit Disaster of 1862.

This project is funded by Seaton Valley Council with a total budget of £10,000 (inclusive of VAT).

Specifically this brief is for a new pathway. It is envisaged that the project will take place following a successful tender application and if appropriate the artist/arts organisation could include a series of design workshops with various groups from the local community. The appointed artist/arts organisation must be available to commence work immediately after selection. The work must be completed in time for a special opening event held during Heritage Open Days on 8th September 2012.

Interested artists/arts organisations are invited to submit a proposal to Helen Moore at Blyth Valley Arts & Leisure by 5.00pm on Thursday 12th January 2012.

Please contact Helen Moore for an artist brief.
