Economies of Resistance

13 Jun 2011

“Imagine a society in which financial institutions gamble away our money and blame us when it’s gone; where profits are privatised but risk and real cost is socialised. A society in which the arts sector bears the brunt of public-spending cuts because the public are to be anaesthetised and atomised, facilitating complacency with authority and the standardization of labour. “How could the independence of creative expression be asserted in such a dystopia? Interested artists from across disciplines may respond by submitting works and ideas. Between July 1st and July 8th, artists wishing to collaborate will have the opportunity to use the 2 floors of exhibition space; sharing knowledge and working together to imagine and realise alternatives. Works and ideas will be compiled in an attempt to issue a manifesto that broadcasts the multitude of your visions. On the evening of Friday July 8th and through that weekend these works and ideas will be made public alongside a series of related events and screenings as Economies of Resistance doubles as both exhibition and celebration of Liverpool City of Radicals 2011.”

Deadline for expressions of interest: Wed 29th June
