The International Sculpture Center (ISC) is a member-supported, non-profit organisation that, since the 1960s, has produced conferences and symposiums to champion the creation and understanding of sculpture and its unique, vital contribution to society.

The 23rd International Sculpture Conference spans three days (4th–6th October 2012) and will take place in Chicago, IL. It is a two-track conference which will address the artists’ creative process, the patronage that supports the artists’ work and the interaction of the created sculpture and the public in the contemporary world. Fourteen panels and three keynote speakers will give everyone an opportunity to meet and connect with peers while participating in well-rounded debates and dialogue. Conference attendees have been sculptors, collectors, patrons, architects, developers, journalists, curators, historians, critics, educators, foundries, galleries, and museums-anyone with an interest in and commitment to the field of sculpture.

The ISC is currrently accepting abstracts on the following topics:

• The Transformative Nature of Sculpture on an Urban Community
• Public Art: Alternative Models
• How Can Architects and Sculptors Work Together?
• Experimental, Artist-Initiated and Alternative Curating
• Relevance of the Gallery system: Galleries, the Internet and Art Fairs in a Changing Market
• Ideation and Process

Individuals wishing to contribute panel abstract proposals for the 23rd International Sculpture Conference must submit a 200 word abstract for review to the Conference Advisory Committee. All abstracts must be submitted electronically. The abstract submission deadline is February 6, 2012. Abstracts received after the submission deadline will automatically be placed on the waiting list. Applicants will be notified on March 12, 2012, as to the status of their abstract.
