Art in Healthcare/ Royal Victoria Hospital - Artworks Commission
16 Sep 2011
The Royal Victoria Hospital has engaged Art in Healthcare to commission the creation of two artworks for its new six ward unit in Edinburgh. The Royal Victoria provides an assessment and rehabilitation health service for people aged 65+ who live in north Edinburgh.
The entrance space of this building provides two opportunities for an artist or artists to produce both a wall mounted and free standing/ hanging piece. Submissions are actively welcomed from artists working in a wide range of media where a total budget of £20,000 will be awarded to the successful artist/artists.
Although the patients will mainly be elderly, in consultation with staff it was agreed the work should reflect the new architecture and should therefore be both contemporary in nature while meeting the needs of those in a healthcare environment. The successful artist/ artists should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of working in their speciality and delivering work on time and within a budget.
Deadline: 07 October 2011.
