7 Jul 2011

Theatre Studies at the University of Glasgow, is seeking to award one fully-funded PhD studentship to commence 1 October 2011. The studentship, which will support three years of full-time study, is funded through the AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Awards Scheme and is with non-academic partners, the Riverside Museum, Glasgow.

The studentship is available to carry out research on the topic ‘From Transport to Travel: Contemporary Performance and Visitor Agency in a 21st Century Museum of Transport’. It is envisaged that practice will form a significant part of the research methodology.

The academic supervisors will be Minty Donald and Dr Simon Murray (with the non-academic supervisor being Lawrence Fitzgerald, Director, Riverside Museum).

The successful applicant will need to: meet the AHRC’s academic criteria for doctoral study; have an enthusiasm for the subject area; show the potential to develop a range of advanced research skills including practice-led research; demonstrate the ability to work effectively in academic and non-academic environments. In addition, applicants must meet the AHRC’s requirements for UK/EU residency: only students meeting the UK residency requirement will be eligible for the stipend, which will consist of the AHRC standard maintenance grant – in 2010/11 £14,140 – with an additional contribution of £3,000 from Glasgow Museums.
