Transmission is looking to appoint a Curatorial Trainee to work with the Committee for the duration of 10 months (starting January 2008) on a specific project aimed at presenting an active archive of CONTROL Magazine. This is an invaluable learning opportunity for an individual looking to develop the necessary skills for a curatorial position within the arts.

The Trainee must have a sound knowledge of contemporary art and a specific interest in the artist???s role within society. The Trainee should be hard working, reliable and enthusiastic. The trainee must also be flexible and able to make several visits to the offices of CONTROL Magazine in London.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

??? To undertake an intense period of research and development for the Control Magazine project. This will involve contacting all contributors to control magazine and informing them of the project. ??? To work with transmission gallery on funding applications for the project. ??? To liaise with CONTROL Magazine and act as the main point of contact for artists. ??? To negotiate with the selected artists on all aspects of the project, and to research locations/venues for possible off site projects. ??? To meet with other arts organisations within Glasgow to discuss the project and where possible identify any opportunities for collaboration ??? To attend progress meetings with the committee fortnightly. ??? To record and manage all research undertaken. ??? To keep a record of activity for each project, identifying any deadlines for production or execution of artworks.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

??? The trainee will meet fortnightly with the Transmission Gallery Committee to review and discuss any progress made. An agenda will then be set for completion before the next scheduled meeting. ??? The trainee will act as a link between the artists involved in the project and for the editor of CONTROL Magazine.

The Trainee will be supported by the committee in all aspects of the job. The Trainee will receive a fixed fee for their 10 month traineeship.
