Glimmers in Limbo: Site Specific Event at the Britannia Panopticon, Glasgow

Glimmers in Limbo is a site-specific event staged at the historic Britannia Panopticon musichall, in Trongate, Glasgow, from 6.30 – 9pm, on Thursday 18th October 2007.

Refreshments will be provided. The performance starts at 6.45pm prompt, and due to the nature of the space, the organisers advise you to dress warmly!

Twelve participants have been invited to choose a song they would like to sing in the music hall ??? inspired by their personal responses to the building. The participants will be performing their choices, accompanied by new piano roll arrangements played on the Britannia Panopticon???s pianola. Singer-song-choosers include: broadcaster and music producer, John Cavanagh; musician, Stevie Jackson (Belle and Sebastian); Janis Fyfe Murray (with the Parsonage Choir); and artists Aileen Campbell and Ross Sinclair.

Pianola Karaoke is one of a series of site-responsive interventions for the Britannia Panopticon building developed by Minty Donald as part of the Glimmers in Limbo project www.glimmersinlimbo.co.uk. The project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and hosted by the Glasgow School of Art.
