Public Art Commission: Centenary Park, Airdrie

18 Jun 2007

North Lanarkshire Council wish to call for ideas from artists for a sculpture that will be a permanent feature on a key gateway between Airdrie and Coatbridge.

North Lanarkshire Council is taking a new approach to address the decline in our open spaces and parks and in consultation with local communities are developing a long-term, rolling programme of improvements to regenerate and create valuable assets within the community. As part of this programme an entrance feature is required for one of our town parks to assist in the creation of a clear image and identity for this park and also to mark an entrance into the town of Airdrie. A budget of £10,000 is available to cover the costs for materials, fabrication, site works and installation.

Interested artists should request a Commission Brief and application form by writing to Carolyn Whitten, Planning Officer, North Lanarkshire Council, Planning & Development, Fleming House, Cumbernauld, G67 1JW, by telephoning 01236 616372 or by emailing whittenc@northlan.gov.uk
