Surge 2012
Glasgow
23 Jul 2012 to 29 Jul 2012
Conflux announces the third edition of SURGE, Scotland’s festival of physical performance taking place in Glasgow from 23rd – 29th July 2012.
Conflux will be presenting a raft of new work from Scottish and international artists and companies. They will be in theatres, out on the streets and in unexpected spots that may surprise even the most seasoned festival-goer. A range of masterclasses, residencies and workshops will be on offer for anyone interested in physical performance, whether you’re trying out circus skills for the first time or looking to improve your skill base as a professional or emergent artist.
As part of SURGE 2012 Conflux has commissioned Australian based tactical media art group pvi collective to produce Deviator. Deviator is a darkly playful site-based intervention developed on site with a team of local artists. Deviator blends radically altered versions of children’s games with subtle live performance, placing audiences as interventionists out on the streets, ready to creatively distrupt the city, one game at a time…
Full Programme to be announced in spring 2012
