Consultation & Commissioning Process
An open competition was organised by GHAT for the commissioning of the Courtyard Sculpture. A selection panel deliberated on a shortlist and chose the proposal of Doug Cocker. For the Atrium artwork, artist Elizabeth Ogilvie was invited to submit a proposal which the selection panel accepted. Elizabeth was also commissioned to design silk banners relating to the aesthetics of the etched glass. However, when the Atrium space was constructed it was decided that this space was not appropriate for banners. The SAC agreed that funds could be reallocated to one of the print commissions (main concourse).
The print commission for the Moray Suite was awarded following the direct selection of Richard Demarco and then later for the Main Concourse to Peter Wilson.
In drawing up the briefs for each commission GHAT engaged in a process of local consultation with associated art advisors.
