Prestwick Airport, South Ayrshire
A sculpture was designed by Aberdeen-based artist Carole Gray for Prestwick International Airport and was installed during 1997. The aluminium sculpture is outlined with fibre-optic lights and is located to the front of the main terminal building. The artwork is considered an integral part of the airport improvements programme. It is visible from within and outside of the airport complex and has become a landmark for Prestwick town and Ayrshire.

Consultation & Commissioning Process
Meetings, presentations and consultations were carried out to gain expert advice and local opinion on the project.
The artist’s brief was prepared in consultation with representatives from Art in Partnership, Prestwick International, WS Atkins, Enterprise Ayrshire, and Kyle & Carrick District Council. A selection panel, drawn from these organisations selected the proposal of Carole Gray from a shortlist of three.
