Within the realms of the National Park Gateway & Orientation Centre project at Lomond Shores in Balloch, this project commissioned seven artists to make new permanent work focussing on the Promontory as the site within the Lomond Shores development. The ambition was not to create a sculpture trail but to allow artists to make their interpretation of the site and to produce works which might integrate with the site.

Consultation & Commissioning Process

Managed by the public arts agency, The Centre, the artists were selected following a process of limited competition using a prepared brief. The successful artists were selected through interview.

The Travelling Gallery provided a means for the development work and creative processes of the artists to be taken to various locations and communities.

Outcomes

  • 7 new and permanent pieces of contemporary artwork.
  • “The Park” – A Travelling Gallery exhibition of the work of the commissioned artists.
