Consultation & Commissioning Process

This commission was managed by a public art agency and followed the pattern of open competition. A brief was prepared prior to the selection process and in consulation with Visual Art Projects (VAP). From a shortlist of three, a committee representative of stakeholders selected the successful design. The commissioning process was considered to be of particular value to this project as it provided an insight into contemporary public art for many people who otherwise might not be involved in such discussions.
