Consultation & Commissioning Process
As part of the commissioning process the artist’s proposals were put on public display for local comment and these views were incorporated into some of the final proposals. The landscape architect collaborated with some of the artists in the realisation of the artworks. Local community groups (school children and poetry groups) were involved in the design of the finials and the carved text.
Independent Public Arts (IPA) assisted Dumfries & Galloway Arts Association (D&GAA) in the commissioning process. Artists were commissioned through a combination of open and limited competition and direct invitation.
