This contemporary tapestry represents a link between the historical collections of the museum and the work of contemporary art. The design for the tapestry was created by artist Kate Whiteford and woven by hand through the Edinburgh Tapestry Company.

Consultation & Commissioning Process

For this project, consultation was limited to liaison between the commissioned artist, the Museum for Scotland and the Edinburgh Tapestry Company.

Kate Whiteford was selected after a detailed process of research and limited competition. The artist was selected by committee from a shortlist of three. This commissioning process was managed by Gail Boardman Cultural Development & Project Management.
