This Stage 1 proposal is the concept and design phase of a larger public art strategy within the new facility of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH). The funding secured allowed for 12 artists to submit proposals for artistic input to the design and content of

In 2005 The Saltire Society awarded this fully realised project the Arts in Architecture Award 2005.

Consultation & Commissioning Process

The development of the original Arts Strategy for RACH involved wide public consultation including the setting up of the Young Advisors Club (made up of a selection of young people from seven Aberdeenshire schools).

The commissioning process, and the creative processes of the artists involved the hospital community to varying degrees.

Public Art Commissions & Exhibitions (PACE) were contracted to manage the commissioning process. Artists were selected following open competition and interview.

  • Stage 2 application for ongoing implementation of public art strategy
