Consultation & Commissioning Process
Public consultation took the form of open display of proposed artworks over a period of two weeks and in two different central locations. A Postcard questionnaire illicited feedback from 2631 responses. The majority of responses (70%+) supported the proposed artworks and demonstrated public support for the regeneration programme as a whole.
Project collaboration occurred across a variety of interest groups and organisations including the Disabled Local Access Panel and Renfrewshire Council Roads Design Services.
The commissioning process was managed by public art agency, Art in Partnership. The commission project was divided into three distinct commissions. For each commission Art in Partnership drew up a longlist of artists from which a judging panel selected a shortlist of proposals. The shortlisted artists were invited for site visits and meetings with the design team. The shortlisted proposals were then put on public display. Shortlisted artists were invited to interview and each presented their proposals to the design team.
