This project contributed to a redevelopment designed to integrate the visual arts and crafts within a prominent public space well used by locals and visitors alike. Stranraer’s Artist in Residence, Sibylle Von Halem provided the impetus for this public art input working with and commissioning local artists to created the permanent arworks throughout the seafront development.

Towards the cost of commissioning of integral artworks and design features as part of Agnew Park Seafront Development in Stranraer.

Consultation & Commissioning Process

Significant local consultation occurred between local residents and commissioned artists in the form of workshops and public talks.

Selection made by artist in residence (& consulting artist) Sibylle Van Halem recruiting locally.

Outcomes

  • Surface finishes to the Esplanade, Pavilion Terrace paving and Wave Mound walls
  • Integrated works comprising of seating, tree grills, gate posts and stop ends, and timber shuttering to the Pavilion
  • Sculptural play through the redesign of the crazy golf course and play equipment
  • Pavilion works including glass panels and banners.
